NetworkCheckr (“we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit networkcheckr.com. It also covers how we use that information and the choices you have. Please read it alongside our Cookie Policy.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide Directly
We collect personal information only when you choose to submit it. Right now, that happens in one place:
- Contact form — your name, email address, chosen topic, and message when you use the contact page.
We do not require an account to use our networking tools or to read our guides. We do not currently offer a newsletter or email signup. If we add one, we will update this policy first.
Information Collected Automatically
When you visit NetworkCheckr, some technical information is collected automatically. This comes from our hosting provider and our analytics service, Google Analytics 4. It may include:
- IP address (processed by our host’s server logs; Google Analytics 4 does not store it)
- Browser type and version
- Operating system
- Referring URL (the page that linked you here)
- Pages visited and time spent on each page
- Device type (desktop, mobile, tablet)
- Approximate location (city or region level, derived from IP address)
This data is collected through cookies and server logs. See the Cookie Policy for the specific cookies we use.
Tool Usage Data
Our networking tools run in your browser using client-side JavaScript. The data you enter — such as IP addresses, MAC addresses, or domain names — is processed on your device. We do not store it on our servers.
To return results, some tools send your query directly from your browser to a third-party API. We do not proxy, intercept, or log these requests. The Third-Party Services section below lists each one.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above for these purposes:
| Purpose | Data Used | Legal Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Respond to contact form inquiries | Name, email, topic, message | Consent / legitimate interest |
| Analyze website traffic and improve content | Analytics data (no stored IP) | Legitimate interest |
| Prevent spam and abuse | IP address, form submissions | Legitimate interest |
| Maintain site security | Server logs, IP address | Legitimate interest |
We do not sell your personal information. We do not show advertising on this site. We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling.
Third-Party Services
NetworkCheckr relies on a small number of third-party services. They may receive data through cookies, or through API requests that you trigger by using a tool.
Google Analytics 4
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site. It shows which pages are popular, how long visitors stay, and where traffic comes from.
Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. This protection is automatic and cannot be turned off. You can opt out on every site with the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-On.
Affiliate Links
NetworkCheckr is a participant in the Amazon Associates program. We have not placed any affiliate links on the site yet.
If we add them, the merchant may set its own cookie when you click. We will update this policy first. For details, see our Affiliate Disclosure.
Third-Party APIs Used by Tools
Some tools send your query directly to an external API to return results. Each service receives only what the tool needs to answer your request:
- Google Public DNS (dns.google) — used by our DNS Lookup, Reverse DNS Lookup, MX Lookup, TXT Lookup, SPF Lookup, Email Authentication Checker, and Blacklist Check tools. Receives the domain or IP you enter.
- ipify (api.ipify.org) and ipinfo.io — used by the My IP Address tool. Return your public IP and approximate location.
- macaddress.io (api.macaddress.io) — used by the MAC Address Lookup tool. Receives the MAC prefix you enter.
- crt.sh — used by the SSL Certificate Checker tool. Receives the domain you enter.
- rdap.org — used by the WHOIS Lookup tool. Receives the domain or IP you enter.
These requests go directly from your browser to each service. We do not proxy or log them. Each service has its own privacy policy governing the data it receives.
Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser. NetworkCheckr uses cookies for two purposes: essential site functions and analytics.
- Essential cookies — needed for the site to work, such as WordPress cookies set for logged-in administrators.
- Analytics cookies — help us understand how visitors use the site (Google Analytics 4).
We do not use advertising cookies. You can manage cookies through your browser settings. For the full list of cookies on this site, see our Cookie Policy.
Data Retention
We retain different types of data for different periods:
- Contact form messages — kept up to 12 months after your inquiry is resolved, then deleted.
- Analytics data — retained in Google Analytics 4 per our retention setting, up to a maximum of 14 months.
- Server logs — kept up to 30 days by our hosting provider for security and troubleshooting.
Tool data is not retained at all, because it is processed entirely in your browser.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal data. Laws such as the GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) may apply. These rights may include:
- Right of access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate personal data.
- Right to erasure — request that we delete your personal data, subject to legal exceptions.
- Right to restrict processing — ask us to limit how we use your data.
- Right to data portability — request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Right to object — object to our processing for certain purposes, including direct marketing.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in the Contact section. We respond to verifiable requests within 30 days, or within the time your law requires.
Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational steps to protect the information we collect. These include:
- SSL/TLS encryption on all pages (HTTPS)
- Security hardening and malware protection at the WordPress and host level
- Regular updates to WordPress core, theme, and plugins
- Limited access to personal data (site administrators only)
- Spam protection on the contact form
No method of electronic transmission or storage is fully secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security. If you find a vulnerability on our site, please contact us right away.
Children’s Privacy
NetworkCheckr is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child gave us personal information, please contact us. We will delete it promptly.
International Data Transfers
NetworkCheckr is operated from the United States. If you visit from outside the United States, your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States. Data protection laws there may differ from those in your country.
Where required by law, such as the GDPR, we rely on appropriate transfer mechanisms. These include standard contractual clauses used by our third-party service providers.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices, service providers, or the law. When we make a material change, we will update the “Last Updated” date above. Please review this policy periodically.
